Napoli - Key Trio Going Nowhere
Napolis in-demand trio of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edison Cavani and Marek Hamsik will be going nowhere in the summer according to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis. The three stars have played a major part in the clubs season so far, especially in the surprising run in the Champions League, only ended by an inspired Chelsea side, and Napoli will be prepared for a host of enquires come the summer.
Punters gambling online have widely backed at least one of the star trio to leave the club in the summer and while there has been plenty of reported interest, president De Laurentiis has insisted no bids have been forthcoming, admitting he wouldn’t be willing to lose any of his major players, in any case.
Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani? I cannot give them away and anyway, no-one has asked about them officially. He quoted
Even if every day there are newspapers and televisions discussing bids for Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani, I have not had any offers beyond that from Moratti.
I cannot give Cavani, Lavezzi or Hamsik away also because to settle in Italy it takes a player at least a year.
While De Laurentiis may have no interest in selling any of his Three Tenors, a huge Manchester City offer could change that very quickly. The Premier League side, who were dumped out of the Champions League by Napoli, have reportedly been monitoring all three, and certainly have the financial ability to make De Laurentiis come round to their way of thinking. If you are still wondering how to bet on this one, I would still back at least one to leave should City make their interest official.
Napoli will know how essential keeping their best players at the club will be if they are to build on their recent successes. That said, though, a massive pay-day from City would give this Napoli side a chance to really strengthen and mount a genuine Serie A title challenge.
